Quick Hitters: DUI's impacting Championship Saturday and Bowden a class act

No. 1 Florida and No. 3 Texas affected by alleged DUI charges

This Saturday both the Longhorns and Gators will be playing without players due to alleged DUI charges.

No. 3 Texas will be playing without two freshmen, while No. 1 Florida will be playing without arguably the best defensive end in the nation.

I just cannot understand why these young men with so much to lose get caught drinking-and-driving in the middle of their team’s championship runs.

These kids have so much going for them, why would they put it in jeopardy?

Drinking and getting behind the wheel is always a dumb decision, but doing it in the middle of a championship run is mindboggling.

Bobby Bowden, a class act

Bobby Bowden left college football the same way he came in, with class.

Bowden is one of the classiest men in all of sports and it is good to see that he made a decision that was best for the FSU program without making it all about him.

It might’ve been time for Bobby Bowden to go, but he will be missed.
